Why this edition carries weight

Mic Cheque has grown from a 2022 banter show into one of Kenya’s most-streamed podcasts, named among Spotify’s top Kenyan podcasts of 2024, with more than 400 episodes published and a community of hundreds of thousands across TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. The Hangout is where that community meets in person: the conversations that made the podcast a recognisable voice in Kenyan entertainment move from microphones to a 5,000-capacity dome.

The headliner arrives in the strongest moment of his solo career. Bien was the most-streamed Kenyan artist on Spotify in 2024, won the Trace Award for Best Artist in East Africa in February 2025, and in October 2026 became the first African artist signed to Quality Control Music, with his sophomore album “Alusa Continua” scheduled for 20 November 2026. Friday’s set sits exactly in that window: new-label energy, hometown crowd.

At Gilbey’s, we believe that some of the most memorable moments happen when people come together to share experiences. Through our Made for Magic campaign, we celebrate the connections, creativity and spontaneous moments that make everyday life special. Our partnership with Mic Cheque for Cheque Mates Hangout gives Gilbey’s an opportunity to bring this spirit to life through music, culture and entertainment.

From the podcast to the stage

Cheque Mates Hangout extends the podcast into a live setting: an afternoon of music, culture and shared experiences that brings together fans and the Mic Cheque community. For Gilbey’s, the partnership puts the Made for Magic campaign, refreshed with new packaging in August 2026, in front of one of the country’s most engaged youth audiences, continuing the brand’s pattern of pairing with Kenyan culture rather than advertising at it.

Mura the DJ and Kayropmusic hold the floor between sets, keeping the dome moving with the Afro-fusion edits and African dance music that have made both names fixtures of Nairobi’s weekend circuit.
